3 little girls

I had the opportunity to do a photo shoot for three little girls (the two youngest are sisters, and the oldest one is their cousin). Not only are they all gorgeous, but they were so fun to photograph.

Balance

So the past week and a half I have been recuperating. The amazing trip to the beach with my high school girlfriends (Dewey Beach Life forever!) really centered me, and helped me get my life back into balance. For the past month I feel like my schedule has been filled with photo sessions, hours of photo editing, constant reading about photography, and an obsession to get a business started right now (oh and my full time job). So I have taken a step back, calmed down a little and am going to enjoy my summer and going back to basics. I just signed up for a 10 week photography class which I am really hoping gives me the basis of understanding and critical critique that will make me a better photographer. I have also taken up rock climbing, to give my life a little more variety. Although I only took my first course yesterday, I really enjoyed it and hope to continue. I am reading more and watching less TV (due to the lack of good summer programming), and am looking to have a more balanced between family (Todd), friends, hobbies, fun, and work. I do promise that I will have some new pictures up soon. I realize that if I never post, people will stop looking, so I will try to be better!!

I love photographing babies!

Yesterday I did a photo session with a cute little 1 month old. We had a lot of fun and he was really easy to work with. I like photographing the little ones before they can walk (much easier to pose). Warning... I put up a LOT because there were so many great ones and I couldn't choose!

Easten

I did a re-shoot recently of a cute family down by a lake near my house. I tried to make it look like we weren't actually in my suburban town, and hope I succeeded. I did this shoot in all RAW and all manual, so it was a first for me. These were my favorite of the photo-shoot.

Black and White

I am so luck to have friends with such a cute and cooperative baby! I had the privilege of getting to photograph Barrack again and tried something new. I created a makeshift studio with a black blanket, a large pillow, a great widow, and Todd as my assistant! Too bad I forgot my lambskin rug in the car! I also tried out some new B&W editing techniques.

So much to Do/Learn

So right now I am moving full steam ahead in my photography endeavors. Right now I have 6 photo shoots in the pipeline for the next few weeks, in an effort to get as much practice as possible (after all that is the only way once can improve). I am trying my hand at learning Photoshop, and just started delving into Adobe Light Room (AWESOME PROGRAM!!). I am trying to develop a temporary web site (a place to house my portfolio, display my price list, and explain who I am), a logo, eventually business cards, and also try to gain experience in other genres besides Children's Photography (Seniors, Weddings, Engagement, and Animals!!). I am hoping to become an apprentice for a wedding photographer (let me know if you have any suggestions of ones in the DC area I could contact), and am hoping to start charging for my services some July. There are many things to do and to think about, but as my husband keeps telling me, I need to take it one step at a time. Well things in my life are busy, but fun, and I appreciate everyone who has helped me so far!! (Note: If you know someone that is looking is in need of having newborn (1-2 weeks old) , engagement, senior, or pregnancy photos taken, please pass along my info. I am not taking on any more children's shoots at this time, but will be offering a discounted portfolio building rate come July)

California- redo

SO my last post about our trip to CA didn't seem to work. So I am redoing it. Please enjoy May 31st post with pictures...

Last week Todd and I were able to spend a wonderful week with his Sister and her family in Sunny (actually it was cloudy when we were there) CA! It was such a fun trip and we hated to have to go. Katie and Christina are both adorable and we miss them so much. Got some fun pictures while I was there...
